Share the Spotlight
Wendy Allen

Share the Spotlight: "Our own success usually involves the efforts of others around us. Recognize those people who have contributed to your success. They’ll feel appreciated and you will have gained their respect."
I can’t agree with this statement more, but my actions have not proven so. I have had the opportunity recently to really hear what my peers and co-workers have to say and it was blaring loud and clear that they don’t see me as a supporter or a champion of their efforts. They want to be recognized for the things they do best. I do, don’t we all? In recent times of self-reflection I have realize that I have been doing a poor job in this area. Because I have been the recipient many times of praise and recognition it makes it even worse that I am not a Crusader of this cause. I know I need to be a champion therefore, I need to first apologize to you all. I need to be humbled and admit that many of my ideas come from you and I am inspired by many of your talents. I know I don’t tell my peers that enough. Secondly I want to give a big heart-felt thanks for all you do to make me a better person. My promise to you this year is to do a better job acknowledging your successes. Please keep me to task.
To my team I say you all amaze me everyday and push me to become a better manager. I want to publicly thank you all for continually doing an outstanding job. Many of you have been promoted for continually performing at amazing levels and many have stepped up to the plate during shortages or just when needed. You set the example for me. Again, I appreciate each and every one of you.
Finally, I want our leaders to also know that I appreciate their efforts on our behalf and that I know that they fight behind the scenes for us.
In 2006 lets all be "Spotlight" Crusaders. Let us continually be on the look out for opportunities to tout each other’s praises. I know I will be… The spotlight is on, let us all shine!
